Bionalogy

Welcome to the Bionalogy website!

This resource is dedicated to students and practitioners of nursing and midwifery.

The aim is to make use of metaphors, models, and analogies where appropriate as a way of understanding biological themes linked with health care. (There is a brief discussion of what I mean by analogy and metaphor in the context of biology here.)

There are two main sections:

1 Understanding the body - this is about the general structure and function of the body after birth

2 Prenatal development - this is about development of the body before birth

This resource will be added to gradually over time, so please revisit! I am archiving drawings I have used for teaching these topics here in case they are of use to you.
